Gregorian Chance edition by Susan Netteland Gerbi Literature Fiction eBooks

Susan Netteland Gerbi writes with her usual attention to historical detail in chronicling seventy years in the life of Olive (Livy) Bruschetti, a young school teacher, who begins her career in 1924 by lusting after Liam, the teenage son of her new landlady, Bea.
But until Liam graduates from high school, Livy must bide her time dealing with current matters
• Should she encourage the advances of his older brother, Greg?
• Why is Bea always giving her the stink eye?
• Where can a nice Catholic girl get a drink in this town, during Prohibition?
And, most importantly . . .
• Does this middy blouse make her ass look big?

This book is based on the real journal of a young and lonely school teacher who fell in love with one of her students. The story winds its way humorously until many years later, she finally had her wish. Unfortunatly he goes off to San Francisco to pursue his love of a revolving door of other women. The setting is in a cool old hotel in California without electricity, running water or indoor plumbing. The steamy bath house is so well described you can feel yourself in it. The descriptions of everything make you feel that the tiny town, the school house and her resident hotel are all so real. The handsome Catholic priest is not put together to tight and her landlady has it in for her from the first day she arrived until the day she dies. The dialogue is very fun as are the jealousies and double standards.
This is also a story about waiting it out until there are no more choices - perhaps murder? And when Livy, the main character, finally gives in to a man who has loved her forever, she finds herself content, a part of the town and a piece of its' history.
I recommend this book for those who enjoy a good tale of love, historical fiction and a sense of humor you will not find in any other books.

Gregorian Chance edition by Susan Netteland Gerbi Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Everything about this story held my interest.
I wanted more stories of the generations.
It was a fun read.

Susan had written another smart and witty novel that's full or humorous wordplay and interesting historical facts. I plan on sharing this book with friends and family. I'm looking forward to her next book. They are always well written and entertaining.
This book was good based on the historical aspect of the story. However, the characters story was not accurate and EXTREMELY offending to the family members! If you want to know about history there are other books that you can buy that would be a better option and worth your time.
Kind of a must read for me. Our good friend, and family member wrotye this. I had a lot mo fun with this one even though it is not my usual choice. Give it a read and see.. You too will have fun!
I found it very easy to give Georgian Chance five stars. As I read chapter after chapter i began to feel I was right there because of the way Susan Gerbi - author - detailed each incident and location in addition to describing the characters so one could immediately become either a fan or an opponent! As the setting was in the early 20th century - yet a fctional story-line - certain historical facts during that period of time were referred to and I found that a very realistic touch. I do recommend Gregorian Chance as an entertaining read.
